I can't help but think porous Windows security is to blame for much of this rigamarole.

If a newspaper can claim readers, but doesn't have to print and deliver a newspaper to them, there is immense cost savings. Bezos clearly wants a piece of that savings.
My plan is to burn the DVD in my desktop burner and then use the portable burner with the netbook. So I never had to download the 2.35GB ISO image provocatively named 7100.0.90421-1700_x86fre blah, blah, blah on the netbook.
Hmmm...where there's smoke, there's fire....and possibly Dell Android-based netbooks.
But books are one thing and newspapers quite another. The DX could be a much tougher sell given the defections of readers and advertisers for other media.
