In 2011, lots of un-friending, mobile apps make $$

Below are seven 2011 predictions from Scott Lahman, CEO of GOGII which develops texting apps. If you’ve got 2011 predictions, send them my way and TDR will considering publishing them.

1.      No more C’s on our business cards: It’s called mobile and they’re called mobiles – business cards will stop using “c” to indicate cellphone.

2.      Mobile piracy issue will take center stage: Software Piracy on mobile devices will go from a dirty little secret to one of the big “must-solves” of 2011.

3.      App store developers will start making big $$$: Exits for companies started in the Apple App Store will cross $2 billion in value.

4.      2011 will be the year of real friends when it comes to social: Intimate social will become a common theme, and we’ll spend more time un- friending than we will friending.

5.      Wireless carriers will start pro-rating data: Overloaded wireless networks will prompt a forward thinking carrier to build a usage plan that offers discounts to subscribers who consume a certain percentage of their data on wifi networks.  Smart apps that can offload SMS to wifi will benefit. (Especially with the advent of 4G/TDR)

6.      Everyone will have a mobile strategy: Every CMO and CTO will have their mobile strategy ironed out by Q2 or else.

7.      Tech giants will start hiring military men: Google and Facebook will begin hiring former military leaders as the war for talent escalates.  By October, one of the two giants will try the bold move of deploying a tank brigade to secure hundreds of the others’ employees at a time… you still reading?
