Malignant cells in a child

This is the fourth and most recent e-mail published on The Dodge Retort about little Avalanna’s life and death struggle against cancer. The idea is to convey the ongoing battle against this indiscriminate and cruel disease.

Four and a-half-year-old Avalanna is why on Aug. 6 and 7, I will ride in the Pan Mass Challenge, which raises money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. These heart rending e-mails are written by Avalanna’s mother.  Follow me on Twitter.

“Today’s MRI was good..  ..:) So relieved. Most areas were stable & the two areas that were radiated in June are practically gone. We had low expectations for the MRI today and are so Thankful to God for these results today’s.

The malignant cells in the spinal fluid from last week are very worrisome as we have never had this before. Therefore we are are going to increase the frequency of the intrathecal chemotherapy in the hope of controlling this. Also Avalanna will need to be seen in clinic more often, for platelet transfusions, to make sure that her body has an ability to clot, in the event of a bleed.

Now more than ever, we need your help in funding a Cure for ATRT (Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor). Please walk with us on September 18th and fund finding a cure for this terrible disease that Avalanna has battled for over four and a half years.

Many of you continue to ask how you can help us & this is something that you can do, that would so so much to us.”
