		<description>There&#039;s so much that newspapers can still do to get their overhead under control and optimize what they publish, but their cultures are worse than entrenched, worse than stodgy. They&#039;re clueless. And now they&#039;re simply paralyzed by their own fear. It&#039;s sad on the one hand; pathetic on the other.
Why not try customization? The idea is not new. Technology could enable a certain amount of customized print editions (more sophisticated than the regional editions that have been around for 30 years). I want more sports; less TV coverage. More Beacon Hill; less Capitol Hill.
Separately, your point about watching government every day is soooo spot on. And the funny thing is, like companies in the B:B space who don&#039;t want to see their publications die off, politicians (most of them) will be the first to worry about the death of pubs like The Globe because they know what they&#039;ll do without it!
